Anita Dunn Would Make A Great Czar

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

Anita Dunn, is the interim White House Communications Director after Obama’s first communications director Ellen Moran left (was fired) to be the chief of staff to the Commerce Secretary. What does Anita Dunn have to communicate? In the video below, Anita Dunn is speaking to the students of St. Andrew’s Episcopal School on June 5, 2009 and said “two of my favorite political philosophers, Mao Tse Tung and Mother Theresa.”  Then she goes on to say  ”not often coupled with each other, but the two people that I turn to most, to basically deliver a simple point which is you’re going to make choices, you’re going to challenge, you’re going to say why not…”

Now this might seem really bad at first, or maybe she just referenced the two to make a point for the children. However, to link Mother Theresa with Mao Tse Tung together is offensive, to use the phrase “favorite political philosophers” with Mao Tse Tung is offensive, but even more offensive when it is given in conjunction with Mother Theresa.  If she doesn’t following the teachings and doesn’t support Mao Tse Tung, then why does she use the phrase “the two people that I turn to most”?

The article states Anita Dunn is only serving in the role temporarily until a replacement is filled. This is little comfort to fill such an important position with someone as radical as Anita Dunn, even temporarily. Perhaps they should have used the White House Military Director strategy and kept the position vacant. As you might have recalled the White House Military Director Louis Caldera was fired from the White House for the Air Force One flyover and resigned on May 22, 2009. The position has been vacant since then with the nomination of George Mulligan coming only on October 16, 2009. Interesting how the White House likes to both fire and hire people on the slow media day of Friday.
