The Olympic Czars of Barack Obama, Michelle Obama and Oprah Winfrey was very short-lived to say the least. Once again, Barack Obama has failed to follow through by not bringing back the 2016 Olympics for his adopted hometown of Chicago. Barack Obama will probably continue to have the support of Chicago constituents and politicians, but this failure underscores how people thought they were getting more substance when they cast their vote in 2008.

This was supposed to be a post-racial, post-partisan president who would unite the United States of America with the rest of the world. He has failed to be post-racial (the beer summit with Skip Gates and Officer Crowley is a great example), failed to be post-partisan (blaming the Republicans for the health care debate when has Democratic majorities in Congress and can’t get enough Democrats to support the plan), and has failed to reunite the rest of the world with the United States (there are several, but one being the 2016 Olympics).
President Obama shouldn’t get all the blame for the Olympics fiasco, but the fact that he made such a large effort by bringing himself, Michelle Obama and even Oprah all the way across the Atlantic to lobby for the Olympics and they failed, should concern the American people when he starts to negotiate more important things like health care, and the pressure cookers of Iran and North Korea.
